Microsoft Paint and Photos send prompts to the server when generating AI images on the device, and embed a GUID as an invisible watermark in the resulting image. This mechanism helps in tracking and documenting the source of the images. While Cocreator performs actual image inference on the NPU, the prompt review and identifier issuance still occur on the server.
