During the Low Resource Computing 2026 workshop at Dartmouth, participants directly used the oldest complete machine-readable snapshot of UNIX, version V4, restored from magnetic tape in 1974. The session highlighted modifications made to the kernel that increased the concurrent terminal limit from 20 to 32. This implementation served as a valuable opportunity to emphasize the historical significance of UNIX systems.
