Oracle's OpenJDK bans generative AI contributions while GraalVM allows them.
Two Oracle-backed open source projects have published opposing policies regarding contributions made with generative AI. The OpenJDK Governing Board has approved an interim policy prohibiting such contributions, whereas GraalVM's Coding Assistants policy permits them. Both projects require contributors to sign the same Oracle Contributor Agreement (OCA) for intellectual property.
