A new ongoing campaign has emerged targeting Afghan telecom providers and South Asian critical infrastructure organizations with a backdoor known as PATCHCORD. According to Acronis Threat Research Unit (TRU), this backdoor is a compiled C/C++ implant delivered through sector-specific lures, such as fake VPN installers impersonating Afghan Telecom. This highlights a growing security threat in the region.
